Verizon has got some more bad press.  Recently, police were searching for a man who was unconscious due to robbing someone’s house and stealing pill bottles, and were unable to find him using his cell phone because his bill was unpaid.   The Verizon operator denied a sherrif’s request to turn on the cell phone even for a little bit so they could locate the man unless the sherrif agreed to pay the $20 the account was owed.
Eventually they found the man before paying the debt, but this publicity is not what Verizon needs right now.

Since flopping with the BlackBerry (They are now giving away BlackBerrys left and right if you buy one), they have been suffering – watching people switch from them to ATT because of the iPhone.

While I am on Verizon, and have personally found their in-store customer service to be decent, they are still going downhill and fast if they don’t change their ways.
